Obituary of Eddie Washington

Eddie Charles Washington transitioned from his earthly life on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
To know him was to love him and he will truly be missed. Mr. Washington was born in Utica, NY on January 9, 1950, the youngest son of the late Ernest and Mamie Lee Washington.
He graduated from Thomas R. Proctor High School in 1968 and later studied data entry at Mohawk Valley Community College. Mr. Washington was a proud Veteran and served in the U.S. Navy. He was Honorably discharged in 1974 and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Washington began working for Oneida County in the late 90s as a custodian at Mohawk Valley Community College and retired from the Office for the Aging. He also spent years as a Fleet Bank employee.
He is preceded in death by; sister Ernestine Mitchell (Charles); brother Nathaniel Washington (Gracie); brother Walter Washington; nephews Preston Washington and Walter (Lee) Washington and one son Denzel Maurice Washington.
Mr. Washington is survived by; brother Arthur James Washington (Diane); sister Cleola Crawford (Earl) sister Carolyn Matthews (Otis); daughter Valtressa Washington and daughter; Krystal Washington Lewis. He was married to Carol Washington from 1982 to 1997. He is also survived by; daughter Diane Washington-Taylor (Garrett); son Damien Washington and son DiQuan Washington. He leaves to mourn his grandchildren; Derek James Lewis, D'Journei Washington, Kiara Washington, Morgan Taylor, Garrett Taylor and D'Jhakim Washington and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to Mr. Washington's nephew Terry Washington and niece Tara Mitchell.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at St. Paul's Baptist Church at 219 Leah Street, Utica, NY 13501. Visitation is at noon and at the church. T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Home at 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY is handling the arrangements.
