Essie Mae Clark-Van Ness 86, of Utica, departed this earthly life on Friday April 4, 2014 in Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare with her loving family by her side. She leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Gregory (Joyce) Brown of Utica, Anthony Clark, of VA, Otis (Tanya) Brown, of Utica, daughters., Diane (Leonard) Himes, of Utica, Vernadine (Joseph) Reid, of Utica, stepchildren, Luzette and Eddie Van Ness, of Syracuse, a brother, Lucious Clark, of GA she also leaves 20 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren along with a host of nephews and nieces and two life-long friends, Jeanette Davis and Gertrude Doles. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Van Ness, her mother and father Ben and Sarah Clark brothers, Otis Stephens, Benjamin Clark and Andrian (Bud) Clark, a sister Sarah Ann Dexter The family extends sincere thanks to the staff at St. Lukes Home for the loving care of our mother. Also Hope, Michelle and James at St. Luke's Hospital for their dedication in taking such good care of our mother Friends may call on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 11:00am until the 12:00 noon funeral service at House of God Church 1304 Genesee Street Utica.
