Obituary of Bobby (Hawk) Hawkins

Bobby (Hawk) Hawkins On Saturday, February 22, 2014, the Lord called Bobby Hawkins home from labor to rest after a brief illness at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. His beloved wife, brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Otha Jackson were by his side. He and his twin brother, William Hawkins, Sr., were born on October 24, 1939 in Dearing, Georgia to the late Isabelle Hawkins-Evans and the late Wesley Hawkins. The family moved to Utica, New York in the early '70's. Bobby started to work at an early age in Georgia and continued to find various jobs in New York until being hired by Conrail as a B-Operator where he worked from 1971 - 1990, when he was forced to retire due to an injury on the job. Bobby leaves behind to mourn him, his wife Evangelist Helen Jackson-Hawkins; a very special person Johnamae DeJean of Rome, New York and their daughter Cynthia Hawkins of Schenectady, New York with her friend Lucas.; and children Santana, Hadi and Lucky. Two brothers, Johnnie Hawkins, Sr.; William Hawkins, Sr.; two sisters Anna Hawkins-Burke and Martha Hawkins-Enoch. an uncle, Edward-Hawkins; 5 stepchildren; 28 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 3 Godchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends. Bobby loved his family, his pets and was a friend to all he met. After his retirement, Bobby enjoyed gardening and fishing at their camp in Ogdensburg and running his vegetable stand at home. His parents; 2 brothers, Alvester Hawkins and James Hawkins and 2 sisters, Lillie Hawkins-Clark and Bessie Hawkins-Engram, predecease Bobby. The family of Bobby Hawkins wish to send our thanks to Faxton-St. Luke's Medical Center and all the departments that cared for and showed love and concern for our loved one.
