James Willie Hawkins Sr. went home to be with the Lord January 9, 2014, with his loving family by his side. James was born October 24, 1941, in Dearing, GA. He worked for Conrail for forty years before his retirement. James leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty eight years, Cecelia Hawkins, seven children, three brothers and two sisters, Thirty seven grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. The family of James W. Hawkins Sr. sends thanks to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center's Emergency Department doctors and nurses for the care and compassion shown to their loved one. Friends may call on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 pm funeral service at Peter Spencer UAME Church, 841 Bleecker St. Utica.
