Obituary of Oscar Williams

Mr. Oscar Williams, of Utica, was called home to take his rest on Monday, December 3, 2012. The son of the late Alf Williams and Susie Jordan, he was born in Elba, AL. He came to Utica, in 1945. He married the former Queen March soon after. He was an active member of St. Matthews Temple C.O.G.I.C. where he served faithfully on the senior usher board and senior choir for over sixty five years. He was employed by Beaunit Fibers Inc., Municipal Housing, Gibson Funeral Service and T.Revels-Gibson Funeral Services Inc. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Queen (March) Williams, daughters; Carrie Johnson, of Jacksonville, FL, Mr. & Mrs. Gladys(Cookie) Al Newton, of Utica, and Sarah Atkins, of Gainesville, FL, sons; William Hamilton, of Rochester, NY and Amos and David Williams, of Utica, eighteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Pastor J.L. Griffin and St. Matthews Temple family, the staff at Folts Home, St. Elizabeth Medical Center, and North Utica Community Center staff. Friends may call on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at St. Matthews Temple C.O.G.I.C, 110 Washington Street Utica, from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service.
