Obituary of Mamie Hill

Mamie T.Hill, 61, of Utica, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2012, with her loving family by her side. She was born March 13, 1951, in Utica. She was the daughter of the late Amos and Thelma Scott-Hill Sr.. She recieved her education in Utica at Utica Free Academy. She retired from the U.S. Government Social Security Administration after many years of services. Mamie was a loyal member of Payne's Temple C.O.G.I.C. Of Utica for many years. She enjoyed ministering to the sick, shut-ins and those in need. Her favorite things to do were traveling and spending time with friends and family. Mamie is survived by her two dedicated children, Christopher Brown and Crystal Brown-Hill, both of Utica, also three loving grandchildren whom she adored; Delandis Brown, Dominique Brown and Simeon Bell, sisters; Juanita Wallace and Naomi Hill, brothers; Edward Hill, Albert Hill, Leroy Hill and George Hill, special God daughters; Suzette Moore and Ashante Hammonds, a lifelong friend, Linda Jackson, of Oakland, Ca, who stood by her side until the end and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Amos Hill Jr., sister, Minnie Johnson, niece Laverne Harrison and nephew, Odell Wallace Jr. A memorial service for Mamie wil be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Payne's Temple C.O.G.I.C. 811 John Street, Utica. Rev. Thomas Pearson, pastor, Supt. Jimmie L. Griffin will officiate. The family extends thanks to the Abraham House for the care and support given to them and request that family and friends consider donation to the Abraham House in Mamie name.
