Obituary of Wilhemenia Stubbs

Wilhemenia Stubbs, 77, of Sacramento California, entered into eternal rest on May 2, 2012. She was the daughter of Willie Ada Huggins and Robert and Lelia Jones. She was born July 5, 1934 in Summerton, South Carolina. As a young child, she moved to Utica, N.Y, to live with her mother, Willie Ada Huggins, where she attended public schools. After high school, she attended Utica School of Commerce where she graduated and began her career in business administration. In 1954 she was united in marriage to Charles A. Stubbs of Utica, N.Y. To this union were born Michael, Bronya, Kathleen, and Rosalind. She worked several years at Sperry Univac. Wilhemenia was active in her community. She was a member of the Towns bowling league, member of the Octavon's Club where she was a participant in many Cotillion Balls, and was a member of Hope Chapel AME Zion Church. In February of 1978, Wilhemenia relocated to San Jose, California, where she continued to work until retirement. Over the years, she established many special, lasting friendships just as she had in Utica. She truly had a genuine love for people. She is survived by her four children, Michael Stubbs, Sacramento, CA, Bronya Stubbs-Grimes, Rancho Cordova, CA, Kathleen Reese, Milpitas, CA, Rosalind Hill, Sacramento, CA; ten grandchildren , Nicole, Tamara, Michael, Michaela, Rodrick; Rondrell, Nidra, Deirdre, Whitney, Terrance and fifteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of relatives and friends.
Special gratitude's to Jacqueline Harris her sister-n-law, and the Stubbs' family for the love, support, and encouragement given to the family throughout the years; Wilhemenia loved them dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents, Willie Ada Huggins, Robert and Lelia Jones, husband, Charles A. Stubbs, young children, and grandson Noriel Stubbs. Calling hours is Friday, 11-12 PM, memorial service immediately following at 12 PM at Hilliard Chapel AME Zion, 209 C St., Stockton, CA 95205. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park 300 Curtner Av., San Jose, CA 95125.
