Obituary of Jacqueline Magdeline Smith
Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jacqueline Magdeline “Jacque” Smith, 57 of Utica, NY transitioned to her next journey on June 26, 2023.
Jacqueline was born on October 22, 1965 in Johnson City, NY to John Mable and Estella Phillips. Educated and graduated from Binghamton High School in 1983, she was on the soft ball team, girl scouts and was being mentored in a program called Upward Bound. She also did an internship at IBM.
Jacque relocated to Utica in 1985 where she worked as a CNA at Faxton, a teacher at The House of Good Shepard for nine years, a teacher at Watson Williams for special needs children, a mentor for many years through the Yes program and in her final years worked as a HHA at RCIL. She received her Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and went on to complete her Masters degree from Utica College.
Jacque was one of those rare diamonds. Never one to sit idle, always there to help ANYONE in need, it did not matter if it was a family member, friend or stranger, she always made time to listen and help to the best of her abilities. Her smile was contagious and definitely one of the things you remember the most (besides her hair and nails). Definitely a fashionista, you would never see her looking nothing but “all together”.
The love she had for her children held no boundaries, no matter the situation they knew that she was always there without question or hesitation.
Left to cherish the beautiful memories are her sons: Rashad (Jenna-Rai Calabrese) Richardson, Jamaal (Brandy Mowery) Richardson, Ajahlai Smith and Willie Smith III; mother Estella Mable; sisters: Marilynn Mable and Corinthians Thomas; grandchildren: Dante, Juliet, Traniece, Trevahn, Taraji, Tremayne and Brooklyn and God daughter Janie; special friends: Vernette Morrison, Ashley Mayo, Jacqueline Thorp, Lady Williams and Stephani Tarver; special relationship with her ex-husbands Silas Richardson and Willie “Dino” Smith and Uncle George Clark; nieces and nephews including Michael, Monique, Fruuquan, Daisy, and Latrail; many extended family including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jacqueline is predeceased by her father John Mable and sister Veronica “Vicky” Mable.
Jacqueline has touched many lives throughout her years. Therefore, the family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to all those who have stopped by, called, reached out and kept our family in your prayers during this difficult time. We thank you and our mother knows that although she is physically no longer with us, the love we have for her is unending.
