Obituary of Leslye Joanne Dorsey-Simon

Leslye Joanne Dorsey-Simon, 68 of Utica, NY left this earthly place and went home to be with the Lord on June, 17, 2019.

Leslye was born on April 30, 1951 to James an Annabelle Dorsey. A graduate of TR Procter High School, where she excelled in her studies and sports – basketball and volleyball.  Also, later in life she graduated from Utica School of Commerce.  In the early 90’s, she relocated to Buffalo, NY where she became an advocate for patients of HIV and a peer group counselor.  Some of her favorite pastimes were music, reading, writing and of course her perfectly mapped out TV guide, which normally included SYFY and HGTV.  But most of all her family was the most important, her children and grands.

Leslye leaves behind to cherish her memories, her mother Annabelle Dorsey (Utica, NY); husband William Simon (Syracuse, NY); children: Melissa (Julius) Miller (Utica, NY), Rabb (Mano) Hamid Chanice (Rome, NY); grandchildren: Chappell, Ganelle, Da’Janay, Nigel, Danielle, Khalique, Ebonee, Nasiere, Nyaishia, Ishmarai; great grandchildren:  Gianna, Jayden, Cainan, Kale, Zahir and one to be here soon siblings: Janet (Cliff) Billins (Rochester, NY), Jai (Ericka) Dorsey (GA), Jody (Nicole) Dorsey (Utica, NY)

Leslye is predeceased by father, James Dorsey, brother Clifford Green and her son Jamon Miller and the father of her children, Robert Miller, Sr. 

Although, many friends have crossed her path, she had a few dear to her heart, Bernice Blackshear, Shiela Holleman, Vanessa Jones of Buffalo, NY; Josephine Cortes and Keith Cauley.
