Obituary of Joseph Conrad Hopkins
Joseph “Conrad” Hopkins, 61 of Utica, NY passed away on January 30, 2019 with the love of his family holding him close in their hearts. Joseph was born on February 23, 1957 in Little Falls, NY to Joseph, Sr. and Louise (Johnson) Hopkins.
The Hopkins family relocated to Utica, NY in the early 1960’s. Joseph was a student of Proctor High and after receiving his diploma became employed by Utica City Hall in the DPW division. Upon his retirement from City Hall, Joseph was his mother’s “right hand” man, helping out in the family restaurants, DJ in the night clubs, helping out in the stores or wherever he was needed. People knew if they needed a helping hand all they had to do was reach out and he would be there without hesitation. His favorite saying was “You Know” and also another favorite quote was “Is It Cool”. He was such a joy to be around and he also wanted you there to watch a movie, just so he could explain every word and every scene.
Joseph leaves behind to cherish his memories, his sons: Michael Jones, Devon Hodge, Joseph Daniel and Khiry Wilkinson; daughters: Elaine Hodge and Shaneil Hodge; sisters: Joanne Smith, Debra Hopkins, Gorthie Hopkins, Linda Robinson and Sherri Hopkins; brothers: Johnny Hopkins and Gregory Hopkins; grandchildren: Michael D. Jones, Jr., MaKayla Jones, Kiarra Jones, Kyzier Jones, Jayla Jones, Miyaka Jones and six additional grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Louise Hopkins and four aunts and four uncles.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for all those who have extended their sympathy during this time of grief.
