Deric J. Brown – “Loved by the Best of the Best”
Deric Jerome Brown, 41, entered into rest on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Deric was born in Utica, NY on October 18, 1974, the son of Geniene Grimes Harvey and Kevin Brown. He grew up in Utica and Syracuse.
He is survived by his parents, his children: Ahshanique Brown, Deric J. Brown, Illaqah Brown, Dylan Brown and Dash Brown, all of Syracuse. His siblings: Bart Harvey, Jr., Monica Lee, W. Akeem Flagg, all of Utica; Cory (Lateesha) Grimes, Jamila Grimes, Chloe Grimes, of Syracuse, Shawna Williams, Waterbury, CT, Bilal Dingle, Rochester, NY, Kevin Brown, Jr., Dayton, Ohio, Rahkiya Brown, Binghamton, NY. His paternal grandmother, Mrs. Elaine Brown Shaw. His aunts and uncles: Renee (Terah) Isiahiliza (TX), Douglas Jones, Tyra (Jerome) McKinsey, Justin Clark, Pamela McKenzie (Syracuse), Wade Brown, David Brown (CT), Carol Brown, Mark (Tammy) Brown (TX), Deirdre Brown (Wilbert) Elliott, and Robin (Cornell) Weathers.
The mothers of his children: Shakirrah Davis, Zikrah Abdullah, Sheena Johnson and Stephanie Crawford, all of Syracuse. Special brother-cousins: Charles Nettles, Jr. (FL) and Alphonso Coney, Sr. (FL); Special aunts and friends: Gail Banks (FL), Muriel Banks, Vanessa Johnson (Syracuse), Vanessa White (FL); God-daughter, J’nai James (NC); and his beloved dog – “Blue”.
Deric was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Ms. Regina Grimes Hines, great-great-great aunt Ms. Etta Grimes; his paternal grandfather Mr. William Brown, and his paternal great grandparents.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Home, 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY 13501, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Homegoing Service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016, at Believers Miracle Deliverance Ministries, 207 Eagle Street, Utica, NY 13501. Visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with funeral services following at 11:00 am, Reverend JL Griffin, officiating. Funeral services have been entrusted to T. Revels Funeral Home, 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY.
