Obituary of Dianne L Nichols

Dianne L. Nichols, 51 of Utica, NY left us too soon on October 2, 2016. Hospice Siegenthaler Center In-Home and Residential staff cared for Dianne with love, tenderness and complete understanding of Dianne’s needs. Their devotion will forever be remembered. Crystal, Ann, Justin, Laurie, Michele, Julia and others were Dianne’s angels. The family would also like to thank the Faxton-St. Luke’s Infusion Care team who treated her as family. Dianne was fiercely independent, choosing her own path, choosing her family and choosing her life. Dianne chose to give life and birth to Matthew Nichols, her son who she leaves to mourn her. She adored him and loved him and was happy in his presence. Matthew provided superior care for his mom until it was medically necessary for Dianne to move to Siegenthaler Center. He continued to show love continuously throughout her stay. Matthew’s balloons that he brought to his mom as a gift were released into the open sky by Matt, Mrs. Helen Hawkins, her family and John and Nancy Cox Marafioti after Dianne’s passing. Cancer challenged Dianne every day for so many years but she fought and tried new treatments and medications. She loved so many around her and especially Matt. She did everything to be alive. We are all better off for knowing Dianne. Her wisdom…her ability to listen and hear…sharing her beautiful smile that lit the world…loving every animal…hugging children and letting them know they were loved and they mattered. Her laugh!! She found joy in all of us and we found ours in her. So many are left to mourn her passing and also celebrate her life. Dianne made a difference in all our lives. Her son, Matthew Nichols; Godmother: Helen Hawkins and family; Parents: Dianne and Bill Terrell; Linda Hoyt and Laura Hoke; Dick and Gail Shaw;(predeceased) Marie Neejer; Candie Cieplinski and daughter, Christie Diaz; Mother-In-Law: Minnie Johnson; Ed Jackson, Mary Freeman, Sue Thayer, Christy Jackson, Roberta Crist, John and Nancy (Cox) Marafioti and many friends and family. In Dianne’s memory, please perform an act of kindness, visit someone lonely or sick, love and respect your children and pets, find the filet mignon with french fries and gravy and savor every bite, plant a shade tree to make someones day cooler, offer someone a cool water on a hot day. Services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Home, 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY 13501.
