Bertha M. Rollins, 83, of Binghamton, NY formerly of Utica, NY was born on January 13, 1933, passed away unexpectedly on June 5th 2016. Bertha was predeceased by her husband Leedell Rollins; parents Clara Brown and Ned Mims; son Joseph White and daughter Sharon Rollins. She is survived by her children Timothy White and family, Mary Rollins and family, Phillip Rollins, Johnny Rollins and family, and Cassie Rollins and family; additional; granddaughters include Shirlene Hall and family and Tynisha White and family. We would like to extend our gratitude to the Susquehana Rehab and Nursing Home for making her last days comfortable. She will be forever remembered by each of us and will always be held in our hearts. Memorial service to be held at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Home, 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY on Monday August 1st 2016 at 1:00PM. SHARED FAMILY MEMORIES SHIRLENE: SHE WAS MY MOTHER, MY GRANDMOTHER, AND FATHER. SHE TOOK CARE OF ME WHEN MY MOTHER DIED, I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT. SHE WAS A TOUGH COOKIE. MARY: TO GET CLEAN AND STAY CLEAN FROM DRUGS. XAVIER: SHE WOULD ALWAYS PINCH MY CHECKS. JOHNNY: I REMEMBER SHE ALWAYS WOULD SAY SHE CAN STILL BEAT MY BEHIND OR PUTTING HER LITTLE FISTS UP SAYING COME CLOSER. (LOL) ALEXIS: CALL ME GRAHAM CRACKER ONE MORE TIME I’M GONNA GIVE YOU A GRAHAM CRACKER. (LOL) THE CARE SHE GAVE ME AFTER THE INCIDENT TO MY EYE. WILL: HOW SHE WOULD LOCK THE DOOR IN THE PROJECTS AND TELL ME I BETTER START FIGHTING BACK OR SHE WAS GOING TO WHOOP ME, OR WHEN SHE MADE US WATCH THOSE WESTERNS ON OUR KNEES. (LOL) SHIRLENE: I USED TO HATE THAT MY KNEES HURT SO BAD ALEXIS: ME TOO, I THINK THAT’S WHY THEY’RE SO DARK NOW. (LOL) JOHNNY: SHE WOULDN’T DRINK DIET SODA EVEN IF SHE NEEDED TO AND THAT’S THE ONLY THING SHE COULD DRINK WE WOULD FIND IT HIDDEN IN THE DRESSER DRAWERS. PEDRO: REMEMBER HOW GRAM WOULD CHASE US OUT THE HOUSE IF WE USED THE “N” WORD. (LOL) Those we love don’t go away We carry them with us everyday They see our smiles our happiness and joys They hear our cries our sorrows our mourns Grandma we love you and we’ll hold you near Now a memory we hold so dear; a treasure in which we will never part. You will always and forever be in our hearts. We love you.
