Obituary of Martin Joseph Brown

Mr. Martin Joseph Brown, 54 of Utica, NY, passed away on July 13, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his family. Martin “Snuchie”, born on December 23, 1961 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Richard Esquire Dabney and Grace C. Johnson. Martin married Elizabeth Bush in 1983 and was widowed in 2000. Martin is survived by his seven sisters: Alfrieda, Helena, Dora, Mary, Gloria, Katrina and Vivecca and one brother; Richard (Agnes Smith). Martin was predeceased in death by his parents: Richard Esquire Dabney and Grace C. Johnson and three brothers: Tony, Paul and Jack. Martin also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws and many friends. “Snuchie” had a heart of gold, if anyone ever needed ANYTHING (a place to stay, food to eat or clothes on your back, he would never hesitate, hence the name given to him “The Hope House”. Before Martin’s illness, he loved to cook and spend time with his family and friends. Martin “Snuchie” left this life to be with the Lord and his family, who have made a place for him, and in knowing this, all of us who are mourning his death should be celebrating his life and rejoice in his homegoing. Visitation will take place Monday morning, July 18, 2016 from 11:00 - 12:00 pm. at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Home, 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY 13501. Mr. Brown's funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon immediately following visitation.
