Obituary of Donnel A. Hymes

Donnel Aki Hymes, 38, of Utica, New York was called home on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in IUC at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his family by his side. Donnel was born on April 8, 1977 in Utica, NY, the son of Annette L. Hymes and Curtis Greene. Donnel’s step-grandfather is Mr. Allen Coleman. Donnel was educated in the Utica City School system and was employed locally. Donnel was very gifted and talented in sports, especially basketball, football and baseball. He enjoyed watching football and was a serious Cowboys Fan. He also loved baseball, his favorite team was the NY Yankee's. His hobbies included working with his hands and working on vehicles; specifically, oil changes. Donnel leaves to mourn his passing, his fiance' and longtime companion: Cynthia Nieto and one daughter, Ayana A. Hymes (Utica, NY); four brothers: James Hymes (Attica, NY), Terrance Bernard Liggins (Utica, NY), Jesse Pittman III (Utica, NY), Remis Mathis, Jr. (Syracuse, NY); five sisters: Felicia Greene (Utica, NY), Diana Greene (Utica, NY), Tammy Liggins (Utica, NY), Lisa Pittman (Utica, NY) and Casandra Mathis (Syracuse, NY); Godmother Mrs. Frashon Johnson and a host of relatives and friends. Donnel was predeceased by his maternal Grandmother, Leola Hymes-Coleman. Family and friends may call on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 11:00am - 12:00pm at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Services, Inc., 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY 13501 with the funeral service starting at 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.
