Velma Walton, mother of Faye Short, departed this earth on October 16, 2015. Velma was born on July 16, 1916 in the state of Alabama, the youngest of three siblings. Velma graduated from Parker High School in Alabama and attended Lewis Business College in Detroit, Michigan.
Velma leaves to celebrate her life, her only child, Faye; three granddaughters: Stephanie (Michael) Short-Smith, of CA; Alison Short of CA and Melissa Short of Utica; three great-grandchildren: TiTanna, Tyasia and Amari and two great-greatgrandsons: Anthony (Tony) and Emilon.
Velma was a member of St. Paul’s Baptist Church and a past member of the Cosmo Senior Citizen Club.
The Walton (Short) family wishes to thank the Heritage Health Care Center 6th Floor staff for their kindness toward their mother (Granny).
Family and friends may attend the services of Ms. Velma Walton on Thursday, October 22, 2015, 11:00am at St. Paul’s Baptist Church, 219 Leah Street, Utica, NY 13501. The Walton (Short) family has entrusted the care of Ms. Velma to T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Services, Inc..
