William R. Johnson, age 76, of Utica, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY. He was born in Salem, Alabama on November 16, 1938, a son of the late Abner W. and Ruth L. (Cook) Johnson. William was raised and educated in Alabama. Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1956 to 1959. Upon his honorable discharge, he relocated to the Utica area where he has since resided. At one time, he was wed to the former Lois Brown. Mr. Johnson retired from Oneida LTD. In 1999 he was wed to the former S.A. Freeman. He lastly held a position with Bernie Bus Service, Inc. as a Bus Driver. His memberships include the Utica International Seventh-day Adventist Church on Herkimer Road in Utica, and the Whitestown American Legion VFW Post #1113. Surviving are: his wife, S.A.; one son, William Terrence Johnson of Bronx, NY; his step-children; Anna Ruth Simmons of Buffalo; Gregorgy and Lisa Suet of Utica; his siblings and their spouses; Althera Freeman of Utica; Larry Johnson of Rome; Billy Joe and Ruby Johnson of Utica; Margaret Proshe of Virginia; Carolyn and Roy Follis of CA; Kathy Johnson of Utica; Deborah Clarence of ID and Steven Johnson of TX. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Bruce Johnson, and a sister Eleanor Johnson. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4-7 at the T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Services, Inc., 144 Eagle Street, Utica, NY 13501. Mr. Johnson's funeral will begin at 11:00 on Friday morning at the Utica International Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1134 Herkimer Road, Utica, New York 13502 Arrangements have been entrusted to the T.
