John Wesley Roberts (Papa John) On December 6, 2014, John Roberts, 82, of Utica, NY went home to be with the Lord with his longtime companion by his side. John was born in Newport News, VA on April 3, 1932 to the late Beatrice and Junious Roberts. John was predeceased by his brother, Junious Roberts, Jr. John was a very kind, loving and hardworking man. He was a property manager at Park West Hotel apartments on West St. for over two decades. He was also a handy man, a man of the community and he retired from L-B Security, where he worked as a security guard for many years. John is survived by his longtime companion of 18 years, Audrey Love, daughter Charmaine (Edwin) Rosado; three grandchildren: James, Deven and Edwin, Jr. John also leaves to mourn his pet companion "Johnny Boy", and a special cousin, Juanita (William) Hickman of Virginia. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 11:00am - 12pm with service to immediately follow at T. Revels-Gibson Funeral Home, 144 Eagle St., Utica, NY with Rev. Arthur Kennedy officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery following service.
